How many official GTA 6 videos has Rockstar released?

That is roughly 31 minutes of footage for a game announced in 2022 and launching on November 19, 2026. Each video did a different job. The first sold the setting. The second sold the couple. The third showed you the controller in your hands, so to speak.

What did GTA 6 Trailer 1 show?

Trailer 1 introduced Lucia, Vice City and the social-media flavor of modern Leonida in 91 seconds. It opened on Lucia in custody, cut to beaches, clubs, swamps and viral-video style clips, and ended with a 2025 release window. It named no other character and showed nothing you could call a mission.

Rockstar published Trailer 1 on December 4, 2023, a day earlier than planned after the video leaked online. The trailer is built like a music video. Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” runs underneath a montage of Vice City life. A mudding truck, a rooftop pool party and a gator walking into a convenience store all get a few seconds.

Lucia is the only lead you meet by name in Trailer 1. She sits across from a prison official at the start, then appears alongside a man in a robbery sequence at the end. Rockstar did not confirm his name until Trailer 2. The trailer sold a mood and a couple, and showed no menu, HUD or mission objective.

Trailer 1 had no capture statement attached. Rockstar never claimed it was gameplay, and never said it was pre-rendered either. It is a reveal trailer, and it did its job. The setting it sold is covered in our Vice City profile.

What did GTA 6 Trailer 2 show, and was it gameplay?

Trailer 2 showed Jason and Lucia together for the first time, with Jason picking her up from prison and the pair working as a crew. Rockstar stated on X that it was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5 with equal parts gameplay and cutscenes. The same day, the official site revealed six supporting characters and five regions beyond Vice City.

The video dropped without warning on May 6, 2025 and ran 2 minutes 47 seconds, set to “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, according to GameSpot. Rockstar followed up with a single post on X saying the footage was “captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5” and split evenly between gameplay and cutscenes.

That statement mattered because the trailer looked like a film. Rockstar has not marked which shots are gameplay and which are cutscenes, so Trailer 2 is best treated as a mix rather than a demo.

Trailer 2 added four things to the record.

• Jason’s name and face, alongside Lucia (see Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos).
• Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder, all profiled on Rockstar’s site that day.
• The Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, five regions outside Vice City.
• A release date of May 26, 2026, printed at the end.

Only one of those four bullets aged badly. Rockstar moved the date to November 19, 2026 on November 6, 2025, according to Engadget. The rest of Trailer 2 is still the canon.

What does the GTA 6 Extended Look show?

An Extended Look is 26 minutes 49 seconds of gameplay captured on a standard PlayStation 5. It runs through story missions, open-world driving, gunfights, robberies, switching between Jason and Lucia, and a montage of side activities. It premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET on August 27, 2026, then on YouTube at 9pm ET.

Rockstar announced the video on August 6, 2026 with a Netflix premiere date, and GameSpot reported the runtime and PS5 capture note before it aired. Unlike the two trailers, it is not cut to a single song or a single mood. It moves from missions that turn into shootouts to short clips of side activities, with the camera behind the character for most of the play sections.

The key difference from Trailer 2 is that you can see the interface. Wanted stars, a weapon wheel, button prompts and the switch between the two leads all appear on screen. That is what separates gameplay from a trailer, and it is why the Extended Look, rather than Trailer 2, is the reference for how GTA 6 plays.

What changed between the trailers and the gameplay reveal?

Three things changed across the three videos. The release date moved twice, from 2025 to May 26, 2026 to November 19, 2026. The footage went from cinematic to mixed to interface-on gameplay. And the runtime grew from 91 seconds to nearly 27 minutes. Jason, Lucia, Vice City and the tone stayed fixed throughout.

The date is the obvious one. Trailer 1 promised 2025. Trailer 2 printed May 26, 2026. Rockstar then delayed again on November 6, 2025 and apologized for the extra wait. Our release date news tracks that history and the platforms.

The footage shift is the useful one for you. Trailer 1 made no gameplay claim. Trailer 2 made a claim you had to take on trust. The Extended Look shows the HUD, so the trust is no longer required. Rockstar also stuck to the base PS5 for both captures, which tells you the target hardware without saying it.

What did not change is the pitch. Two leads, one state, a crime that goes sideways, and a satire of Florida-adjacent internet culture. The story guide covers the official premise. The visual identity, from the pink-and-teal palette to the phone-shaped framing of social clips, is consistent from December 2023 to August 2026.

Which GTA 6 video should you watch first?

Watch the Extended Look first if you want to know how the game plays. Watch Trailer 2 first if you want the story hook in under three minutes. Watch Trailer 1 last, as a curiosity, because it is the only one Rockstar never described as gameplay and the only one that still says 2025.

The Extended Look is long, but it is the only video that answers the question players ask most, which is what you actually do in Leonida. Trailer 2 is the better share link. It is short, it has the couple, and it has a Pointer Sisters song that GameSpot had to identify for half the internet.
