Is there a GTA 6 PC release date?

No. As of September 26, 2026, Rockstar has announced GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with a launch on November 19, 2026. The official site at rockstargames.com/VI lists those two platforms and nothing else. No PC version, no PC date and no PC storefront have been announced.

That has been the position since Rockstar confirmed platforms alongside Trailer 1 on December 4, 2023. Nothing in Trailer 2, the cover art reveal or An Extended Look changed it.

You cannot pre-order GTA 6 on PC, and nobody can tell you when you will be able to.

Why is GTA 6 console-only at launch?

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has given the only public explanation. According to GameSpot, he told Bloomberg that Rockstar goes to console first because a launch of this size is judged on how well it serves the core audience. He also denied that a PlayStation co-marketing deal was behind the decision.

GameSpot reported those comments on May 4, 2026. Zelnick’s argument was that if the core consumer is not served first and best, the company cannot reach the wider audience well either. He described console-first as Rockstar’s historical habit rather than a new policy.

The PlayStation angle matters because GameSpot’s report referenced a Sony co-marketing agreement, and the official site carries PS5 branding. Zelnick’s answer to the exclusivity theory was a flat no. Rockstar itself has published no statement about PC at all.

Rockstar’s own history backs the habit reading. Every mainline GTA since GTA III and both Red Dead Redemption games launched on consoles first. GTA IV, GTA V and RDR2 are the useful comparison, and their dates are in the next section.

How long did Rockstar’s past games take to reach PC?

RDR2’s PC version launched first through the Rockstar Games Launcher and a few other stores on November 5, 2019. The Steam release came in December 2019. That two-step storefront rollout is worth remembering if you only buy on Steam.

What has Take-Two said about GTA 6 on PC?

Strauss Zelnick has spoken about PC twice in 2026 without confirming a GTA 6 port. At Take-Two’s virtual shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026, he said PC is becoming “more and more important” to the company, according to GameSpot. In May, he told Bloomberg that console comes first. Neither statement names a GTA 6 PC date.

At the September meeting, Zelnick said Take-Two releases games for any platform with a meaningful audience. GameSpot notes he was speaking about Take-Two in general, with no mention of GTA 6.

The numbers came in the May Bloomberg interview, as reported by GameSpot. PC was roughly 5 percent of NBA 2K sales when Zelnick joined Take-Two in 2007. On a big title today, he put PC at 45 to 50 percent of sales. He also described a PC release after a console launch as a second selling cycle for a game. Read plainly, that is a business case for a port. It is not an announcement of one.

Rockstar, the studio that would actually build the port, has said nothing on the subject. Until it does, every PC headline is an interpretation of Take-Two investor comments.
