Mount Kalaga National Park is the wilderness region at the northern edge of Leonida, the GTA 6 state. Rockstar confirms hunting, fishing and off-road trails there. The surrounding backwoods are home to fringe communities, described by Rockstar as mystics and radicals who want nothing to do with the government.

Mount Kalaga National Park is the wild north of Leonida, the state where GTA 6 is set. It is the one region Rockstar gives a compass direction, the state’s northern border. The official page lists three things to do there, hunting, fishing and off-road trails. It populates the woods around the park with fringe communities that want nothing to do with the government.
Rockstar unveiled the park on May 6, 2025, together with Trailer 2, on the regional pages of the official site. The tagline riffs on wild country, frontier imagery rather than any real park. Our Leonida hub lines it up with the five other regions.
Of the six, Kalaga is the only one Rockstar sells on outdoor activities rather than money, crime or decay. That makes it the closest thing GTA 6 has to a Red Dead region.
Where is Mount Kalaga on the Leonida map?
On Leonida’s northern edge, against the state line. That is Rockstar’s own wording, which makes Kalaga the only region with an official direction. No map exists yet, so the park’s size, its shape and its distance from the other five regions remain unannounced. Fans draw it at the top of the state, which is the one placement the official text supports.
Two Ultimate Edition blurbs add nearby-sounding names. The Vapid Dominator Buggy parks at the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, and One-Eyed Willie’s mod shop in Lake Leonida handles off-road work. Rockstar has not said how far either sits from the park, so do not draw a road between them yet.
What can you do in Mount Kalaga National Park?
Three things, per Rockstar’s page, hunting, fishing and off-road trails. That is the most detailed activity list Rockstar has given for any Leonida region so far. How each one works, what you can hunt or catch, and whether the trails host races are all unannounced. Nothing else has been confirmed for the park.

Who lives around Mount Kalaga?
Nobody with a name. Rockstar’s page fills the woods around the park with backwoods mystics and conspiracy-minded radicals who moved there to get away from the government. No character, faction or cult has been announced for the area. Every character Rockstar has placed so far sits in the Leonida Keys or Vice City, which leaves Kalaga’s residents as a description without a cast.
The description invites obvious guesses about militias, preppers and cults. Rockstar has not confirmed any of them, so treat every such claim as fan theory.

What real place is Mount Kalaga based on?
Rockstar has not named one. Florida has no mountains, and its highest point is about 345 feet. Fans and press therefore look north to the Appalachian foothills of Georgia and the Carolinas, or to North Florida’s forests. Both are observations. Rockstar’s only statement is that the park sits on Leonida’s northern border.
The name Kalaga has no confirmed origin either. Rockstar’s naming habits lean on puns, and nobody has found the joke in this one yet.
Across the outer regions, Kalaga is the one built on nature. Ambrosia runs on a refinery, Port Gellhorn on decline and Grassrivers on a swamp with secrets.

Yes. Rockstar’s official description of Mount Kalaga National Park lists hunting alongside fishing and off-road trails. Rockstar has not detailed the animals, weapons or rules involved, so anything beyond the word hunting is unconfirmed.

Yes. Fishing is confirmed for Mount Kalaga, and the Ultimate Edition’s Shitzu Squalo boat is pitched for casting in Gambit Bay. Rockstar has not explained how fishing works or which species you can catch.
Is Mount Kalaga a real mountain?
No. Leonida is a fictional state modeled on Florida, whose highest natural point is about 345 feet. A mountain on Florida’s northern border is Rockstar’s invention. Fans compare the area to the southern Appalachian foothills of Georgia.

Do you need the Ultimate Edition to explore Mount Kalaga?
No. The park is part of the map for every edition. The Ultimate Edition only adds the ‘67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, an off-road vehicle Rockstar pitches for the Kalaga backwoods, plus a garage for it in Watson Bay.
